2012 Means No More Proscratinating!

See this?  This is a picture of what this light switch in our master bedroom has looked like for the last YEAR folks ... with this little paintstrip from Benjamin Moore (Ballet White and White Sand) tucked up under it and a sample of the paint thrown on to the right of the switch.  I've seen it EVERY DAY when I turn the lights on/off.  My husband has teased me enough!  LOL

What's holding me, Miss "ADD," back?  Well, I'll tell, no show, you!

There are a BAZILLION nail holes to cover from where we had trim added to the trey ...

a GABILLION nail holes just like these to be filled on every single wall that Miss "I don't like to measure, just put holes in the wall until you get it just right!" added ...

Annnnnnd, our big ol' trey will have to be primed before painting:

Oh, and let's not forget moving bedroom furniture is NOT fun, nor is cleaning the baseboards and dust that is living behind everything!  This room hasn't been painted since we moved in almost 6 years ago!  And, I'm running out of excuses.  I know I'm going to love the result!  So, that's it ... since it appears that it's not going to paint itself, it's time to put my big girl painting pants on and just do it!  The walls will be BM White Sand, the trey will be BM Ballet White, and the ceiling will be Ballet White cut at 75%.

Wish me luck ... see you in a year!  LOL

  1. You can do this, Becca! {And now you've put it out there, so you kinda gotta!}. If I put a nail in the wrong place, I usually wind up praying to God the picture will hide the error hole so hubby doesn't see it. That's all I need to hear about! I can't wait to see your room in the new color.

  2. Good luck Becca! I'm having the same procrastination problem painting the family room-foyer-hallways. I have purchased so many paint samples I've lost count. I just can't seem to choose a paint color and call the painter.
I wish I was headed out that way because I would come over and help you fill those holes. That's the easy part for me.My family room and foyer have white patched spots that have been that way for months. LOL!

  6. LOL! I had to put my big girl pants on this weekend too when it came to finally tackling the mudroom and for that exact same reason...hate painting, hate moving the upheaval, etc. So glad to know I'm not alone my friend! It really will look beautiful when it is done and I LOVE the ceiling. You can do it!

  7. Getting started is 1/2 the battle! But once you start putting that beautiful new paint color on the walls it will be worth all the prep.

  8. You can do it Becca, take one wall at a time. That's what I did when i painted our bedroom 2 years ago. I moved the furniture as I went. The only thing we took apart was the bed.

  9. You don't need to prime. Use Behr's paint and primer in one. They can mix the color you want. Or use Gliddens duo( paint and primer in one). The talk is it's better than Behr's. Good luck to you.

Also I used Gliddens gel flow trim paint. OMG it's amazing. Stinky but amazing!

  12. Becca! I have a q'n for you...my mother in law bought a new table and chair set for our 2 year old's birthday in a pecan color and it should have been in expresso : / I can't return it. I'm thinking of attempting to make the table and chairs darker since it will be a piece in our home for years - but how do I do it? We stained a small rocking chair once before - but we kept it the same color. We've never done a light to dark makeover before and I'm nervous that I will jack up this new piece : / Is this going to be a crazy drawn out process that involves having to sand down the existing color? : ( Any other way to change the wood from light to dark? Can you PLEASE visit my blog or email me at marriagetomotherhood@yahoo.com THANK YOU so much Becca!!!!

I have been up to my neck for over seven weeks now doing the same thing! Filling nail holes, painting, cleaning, enclosing rooms, taking out trash, painting some more.... And now, we are installing hardwood floors. I try not to think about it! LOL I am just very, very tired. Can't wait to see you project finished!

  18. I was laughing about all of the nail holes! I don't measure either and have holes everywhere! I rehung Chase's picture in the hallway the other day and had to laugh. There was a row of at least 15 holes! If I ever hang something else there I'm sure there will already be a hole for it! lol...

I procrastinate too...bad! I've mentioned that I don't like to paint the walls...you know that from Chase's room. Ha! I just keep telling myself I still love yellow. I do...but I know someday I will want a change. I am just changing out accessories to try and make things look different for now.

Anyway, I know when you get everything done it will feel like a new room! My new motto for the year is "Just do it" That's what I'm doing with this craft room. I am ready to get it done...like now! I'm glad you like the floors, they are very practical and it feels so much cleaner in here.

I can't wait to see it finished!
